Can anyone out there tell me if they have had a baby on Cymbalta? Positive stories only please!? I have read all of the negative stories, so please no more. Iram about 5 weeks pregnant and have been on Cymbalta about 2 months. The doctor feels the benefits outweigh my risks, but I am unsure. There is not much solid research b/c it is so new. I have out of control anxiety and depression (post-partum from baby girl born in April). Thanks for any positive stories.

~*Mama-of-Two*~ replied: "I havent heard the negative stories. Have you researched any other meds that might be safer? Since your depression stemmed from your past pregnancy, maybe it has calmed down now? PPD doesnt last forever."

Can someone please tell me something positive about Cymbalta and something negative? I was just prescribed Cymbalta for numerous reasons. I am usually very sensitive to anti-depressants that cause a lot of stimulation. I also don't want to start something that will cause weight gain. Can you share your experience with this medication?

Rebecca W replied: "People rely on pre ion drugs far too much! I think you should try an all natural method first, herbs, tea, yoga, massage, anything... just dont put those chemicals in your body... Yuck"

Snazzlefrazz replied: "it doesn't cause weight gain, but it can make you sleepy"

JD replied: "Cymbalta is relatively new and usually is prescribed for depression. It is also HIGHLY effective, as a neuro-blocker for serious or chronic pain. It has no stimulating side effects nor does it cause you to gain weight. It must be taken every day for it to work for you. Your body adjusts to the dose quickly without and side effects, as long as you maintain your doseage every day. I've used it for 6 months for leg pain and it is great stuff!"

cavassi replied: "Everyone is different. I am sure you can find out what the side effects are of Cymbalta from rxlist.com, which I have found to be a good source, or webmd.com. I have seen Cymbalta work well on some people who seemed easily anxious and overexcited. I have also seen that it did not work for someone diagnosed with depression. Some people have side effects and some people don't. Psychiatric medication is not an exact science. If something works, we are thankful, but can never be certain why. If it doesn't work, many times it gives the doctor more information that leads to something that works. Most side effects subside after a week or two. If they don't, and you can't tolerate them, tell your doctor and make an appointment. Don't discontinue medication without the doctor's knowledge and approval - just some advice. Good luck and I hope things go well!"

Violet Pearl replied: "Pros: Works quickly with a fairly low side effect profile goes. At least as far as something that works on serotonin is concerned. People who take it for bipolar depression don't complain about it as much as other antidepressants. Cons: It appears as if the discontinuation syndrome for Cymbalta is just as harsh as that of Effexor for many people. So if you have to stop taking, be careful and do so slowly."

could cymbalta/duloxentine cause a false positive result in a drug screen? I took a drug screen for employment and was never called back, I have not taken cymbalta for 6 weeks, but is there a chance it could have shown up as something else?

momof3 replied: "NO"

Cloud9 replied: "If cymbalta was prescribed for you by a doctor, please take it as directed until the doctor tells you not to. Having even moods and a good attitude will help you get that job and the presciption helps that. A drug test will not stop you from getting a job or interview just because you took a PRE ION drug. They are only looking for illegal drugs. Do not eat anything made with toasted poppy seeds on it though, as that can sometimes give a false positive for heroin."

Any Positive Results from Cymbalta??? I am curious if anyone has had positive results from Cymbalta. I just started 30mg a day (one a day) and I am curious about it. I have read alot of negatives -- but I find that in EVERY medication I type in. I'd like to hear what GOOD it's done for people. Thanks!

Amy S replied: "i work in a hospital and one of the trauma nurses recommends it. she said that she has had no side effects from it and the only way she can tell she is on it is because it is making her feel better!! Good luck!!"

Jzero7 replied: "i am currently on 60 mg a day and ive had no complaints. at first i was a little queezy .. that dint last too long tho. i got back into the habit of eating breakfast everyday for the stomach upset. other than that i am happy with it."

Cymbalta- Any positive comments? I am currently taking cymbalta for what the doctors have diagnosed as anxiety and also nerve pain. The chest pain, tightness, and back pain, and arm numbness I am experiencing has lasted several months. I have undergone most every test and scan as well as visited a Neurologist, Neuro Surgeon, and Cardiologist all who have been unable to find any medical explanation for my symptoms. I have tried to take Zoloft and Effexor in the past but have had some bad side effects and needed to stop. So far the Cymbalta has only made me feel "wired" but not as jittery as the others. I am hoping this will pass and it may help the other symptoms go away. The only problem I am having is believing anxiety could cause such things to happen. Thanks for any info.

Honesty given here! replied: "I switched from Zoloft to Cymbalta about a month ago. Unfortunately my pain is as strong as ever, but my depression seems to be back to stable. Stick with it for a few weeks at least."

Madre replied: "I'd have a big problem believing your symptoms are only anxiety related, too. Have they ruled out any possible underlying medical conditions? Like MS, or something along those lines? Or even better, have you had a sleep study done? Sleep apnea would cause all of the problems you listed. As far as cymbalta goes, I work in a rehabilitation center (for therapy rehab, not drug rehab), and we have seen absolutely no benefits in the senior citizen population, but that's not saying it can't benefit the younger generation. My personal beliefs are that when medication is absolutely necessary for anxiety, docs seem to quickly prescribe the newer SSRI's and related kinds of meds...when the older, more documented meds seem to have better long term benefits. Something more along the lines of Anafranil, or something like that seems to have more success. But no one drug works the same for two people...each person responds differently to treatment, and what's important is finding what works for you. If you're not feeling better 6 weeks after starting a new treatment plan, have the doc try something different...not just a different brand, but a different class also if possible. In the meantime, if you haven't had a sleep study done, it wouldn't hurt to rule that out too...chest pain/tightness and back pain can be caused by breathing through your mouth and getting too much air inside of your stomach...the numbness can be caused by a lack of oxygen flowing through your body....all signs of sleep apnea."

Any positive comments about Cymbalta? I take 60mg and have only been on it for a little over 3 weeks but I feel like total crap. I feel extremely drained. I tried cleaning out my car earlier and it felt like a huge task and it only took 15 minutes and I was wiped out. All I really want to do is lay around without the TV on, without music on. Basically in a vegetative state. I know people are going to say I haven't been on this medication long enough but I think I really should've seen a little improvement by now. I mostly have anxiety that I take xanax xr for? I worry about everything. I'm deathly afraid of doctors. If I have a bump on my skin or some kind of pain I automatically think it is something terrible. Also, I get irritated very easily. I'm wondering if I should ask my doctor to take me off of the cymbalta and just stick with xanax. I'm so sick of these kind of medications but I feel like a sitting duck all the time and can't get excited about the future because in my mind there is no future for me. I'm so tired of feeling this way. Life is way to short and to depend on a pill to make all the fears and worries go away. I'm at the age now where i need to go get a mammogram but i'm so afraid to go because in my mind i automatically think they will find something wrong. Is this severe anxiety? I have talked to my doctor about all this and every doctor i have seen just wants to up the dose of medication or add another one to the mix.

Hopefully Helpful replied: "I have been taking medications for a very long time. I don't mind taking them. I think it's a good idea to talk to your doctor about the way you are feeling. Maybe the both of you can come up with a new plan. It is scary to think about getting your first mammogram. The first one is very important because it is used as a baseline to compare your future images. Please take good care of yourself and get that mammogram. It's one of those things woman have to do. Good Luck."

Is it okay to take Cymbalta and Voltaren at the same time? Cymbalta has brought about amazing positive results in my case. I have no bad side effects as with other antidepressants. However, I read that it should not be taken with antiinflamatory medications which I need also.

Jill M replied: "Ask your pharmacist, or just call a pharmacist in the phone book.Trust their answer or a doctors."

I started taking the drug cymbalta yesterday. If anyone has any positive comments on this med. I'd love? to hear from you. Thanks. Kala

firebirdstevev replied: "Don't just quit taking it. It will tear you up."

Brandy replied: "I have been on it for some time (over a year) and it works great. THe only side effect i noticed is that i lost about 10 lbs. (which to me was a good side effect) I have GAD and depression and this is the only med i have to take now."

I_Love_McRedneck replied: "I noticed a difference immediately. Slight nausea for the first few days, but no other side effects. I've heard wd isn't so fun, but those symptoms are all psychological..."

no one n replied: "I recently changed from Paxil to Cymbalta and I love it. Paxil made me numb but with Cymbalta I am happy but still feel my emotions. No side effects for me."

Gayle M replied: "I've taken Cymbalta and I did well on it. I was very depressed, so much that my body ached. Cymbalta helped with the aches and pains and me feel very calm. The only thing I didn't care too much for was that it made me very sleepy during the day. If I hadn't lost my bene's at work this would be my drug of choice for depression. It wasn't hard for me to stop though, not any harder that other meds I've taken before. Hope this helps."

What has been your experience on cymbalta? I was put on cymbalta for treatment of major depression 7 days ago. I have found it to be very helpful so far and am looking forward to more positive results. However I have noticed one thing in particular ( a possible side effect?) that I have a problem with... my labido has gone down the tubes. I was wondering what other peoples experiences were like with this drug?

? replied: "That is a common side effect with SSRI's like Cymbalta, Prozac, Zoloft, Paxil, and others. Happens to me with Prozac. If it really bothers you, look into Wellbutrin. It does not have this side effect for most people."

marilynmonroe13 replied: "I took Cymbalta for about a year and a half. I definitely noticed the huge drop in my libido. I asked my doctor and he told me that it was not uncommon. I have recently went off of Cymbalta and everything is back to normal!"

Angelbunny17 replied: "Hi. My girlfriend has been taking Cymbalta for depression for a while and she says it has helped her a lot. The downfall is, she has gained a lot of weight since she started taking it ( she has never had a weight problem before ). So i would watch out for that, i have heard other people complain of that side effect from Cymbalta also. Hope it continues to work for you with no added side effects. Good Luck :-)"

what legal drugs can cause a false positive drug test? I was recently given a drug test at the pain clinic, and after talking to friends, am concerned that I will get a false positive for methamphitamines because I take singular, byetta, abilify, cymbalta, and amytriptaline.

martialmichael126 replied: "I wouldn't worry too much about it. Even if you end up getting a false positive, you can simply tell them that you take medication, and tell them exactly what you take. Then they might run another test or whatever. It happened to me once, the only problem I had was the brief moment of being falsely accused of doing drugs. But one look at my medical records cleared it up."
