Alan M replied: "It is perfectly fine to take Advil with Vicodin. For those who say that it is not safe to mix these medications, please look up "Vicoprofen," which is a combination product containing both hydrocodone and ibuprofen. Actually Vicodin is a combination product already, so you would be taking three medications. I would suggest that you take the Vicodin as per the label directions, which typically say to take it ever 4-to-6 hours. You can then take a normal dose of Advil in the in between time slots. For instance you can take Vicodin at 8, 12 and 4 o'clock and take Advil at 10, 2 and 6 o'clock. Limit yourself to 3,200 mg of Advil in any 24 hour period, as this is the full pre ion strength. Since you are using it in combination with Vicodin, you will probably not require the maximum dose and you can try taking 2 or 3 capsules per dose. Advil Liqui-Gels are the fastest and most effective form of ibuprofen. If you have compromised kidney function, do not combine acetaminophen (found in Vicodin) and ibuprofen (Advil) as this may overload your kidneys.
